I have had the honor of meeting you all only once but the impression so remains, it continues to be a profound learning experience, so here please allow me to quote excerpts of remarkable poetry of noted poets contained in the anthology of aliceinthepoetsheartland for each of your most expressive photographs...

translated in English:

"If poetry were just
a bouquet of words,
I'd rather take
a bunch of kangkong leaves
or a sheaf of sweet potato shoots..."

Clueless

"If you think
I share
my body
lightly
you're clueless
If you take
my body
lightly
then I'm clueless
Actually
there's lots lof clues
maybe
it's just a lack of glue."

Patricia Mercado - born a poet, studied Philippine History and Literature at the University of the Philippines, Diliman.

Sinta Kong Tula

"Dalisay ka pa sa alak
Sinta kong Tula.
Kapangyarihan kang humihigop

Mamatay man nang isanlibo't isang
Ulit magdamag.

...O, sinta king tula!
Sinong banal na diyablo,
Santong kabayo
O mistikal na Bathaluman
Ang makahahalang sa ating pag-uulaya
Sa sagradong tagpuan ng dilim at liwanag?"

Tomas Agulto - poet by vocation, poet in form, a poet through his soul...multi-awarded poet who holds the distinction of the only poet who has been awarded the "Poet of the Year" for three consecutive times.

Writing Block

"That voice so laced with poetry
has disappeared
Gone into hiding...

...I have one million things to say
In silence."

Minsa'y Malungkot Ang Nag-iisa

"Nag-iisa kang malungkot.

Rene de Guzman - poet, visual artist and performance director. Founded "Tumbang Preso", a group of multi-media artists and 'HOY!", a collaborative theater group.

Pagkatapos

"nagsugpong ang ating oras
sa tipanan ng pag-iisa;

dininig ng dinding ang daing,
hinahaplos ng hangin ang halinghing,
inaruga ng init ang ingit.

at pagkatapos
natapos

ang nalabi ay upos
ng sigarilyong saksi
sa lumipas na unos.

tinangay ng panahon ang usok
sa kahon ng kahapon."

Joel Saracho - Broadcast journalist, artist, activist, news production manager of ABS-CBN News Channel; member of group: "Bagong Dugo"; writes verses in between broadcasting.
